Tyler Sherer brings over 15 years of public policy experience from Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., San Diego City Hall, and San Diego State University, to Atlantis Group as Policy Consultant. At SDSU he served as the university’s public policy advisor for a range of issues from local and state to federal. Additionally, as the university’s point person in the community, Tyler overcame initial vocal opposition to the university and led the public outreach and education efforts to secure the approval of the 2007 SDSU Master Plan and the 2012 approval of the university’s innovative mixed-use project to provide student housing and community-serving retail. The projects were approved in large measure due to the improvement in communication and collaboration Tyler initiated with community planning boards and civic groups surrounding the university.
Previously, Tyler worked for Council President Scott Peters advising him on many diverse policy issues, including public safety, water/wastewater, transit, and land use issues in the communities of Black Mountain Ranch, Torrey Highlands, Carmel Valley, Del Mar Mesa, and Torrey Hills. His time on Capitol Hill includes stints with Senator Bob Dole and Congressman Jerry Moran, (now Senator Moran), where he worked on Telecommunications, Military Affairs, and Education policy.
