The mixed-use One Paseo project may be controversial, but there’s one thing developers and many residents can agree on: Carmel Valley needs more shopping options.
The community has a shortage of shops, said Mike Moser, Senior Vice President at CBRE, which is brokering the deals for Kilroy Realty’s proposed project.
Residents leave Carmel Valley to spend more than $1 billion on goods and services in other communities each year, Moser said.
“That’s one indicator that it’s so underserved for retail – that people are having to drive out of the area where they live to get goods and services they might otherwise find if they had more retail,” he said.
Enter One Paseo and its proposal to add 246,500 square feet of shops, restaurants and services across the street from Del Mar Highlands Town Center.
